Dear Supporter, Important Update to our supporters The owner of the Ploughshare Pub has applied for change of use and development of The Ploughshare. Beeston Community Enterprises Ltd. will of course be opposing the application with a very robust set of reasons why we feel the Pub change of use should not go ahead. We ask each supporter of our campaign to leave your individual comments opposing the application, you will find planning information and useful links below. The greater number of opposition comments we can register the greater our chance to succeed in stopping the development of The Ploughshare. The Planning decision will be carried out by Breckland District Council and the information below explains how to register your comments regarding the application. You may want to consider five key areas for objection:

  • The property has not been advertised and marketed in accordance with the policies contained in Breckland District Council’s Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Development Plan Document

  • The proposal to develop the property is contrary to Policy DC 18, Protection of key services and facilities, to be found in Breckland District Council’s Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Development Plan Document.

  • The pub’s viability as demonstrated by the existence of an organisation with a vetted and approved business plan along with the capacity to buy the property at its true market value

  • The negative social impact of the loss of the pub to the village

  • The property is currently listed as an Asset of Community Value
